On Friday morning (November 4), we had a Dr. appointment with our new Pediatrician right down the road and Dean checked out great. He weighed 8lbs 3oz (loss of 1 lb) and was only slightly jaundice. The Dr. was not concerned about the jaundice and said that as soon as my milk came in it would take care of itself.
Milk came in on Friday afternoon is in so everyone is much more content :)
He has been sleeping well, which is a vast improvement from his first night home (Thursday) when he was really fussy all night/morning.
Dean received his first email from his Gramma -
"Hi Dean. How was your night?...Call me when you get up and about."
He also received his first letters from his Great Grammie and Papaw and also one from his Great Uncle Sonny. Hopefully they come over today!!
Couple other things: The heat lamps are what caused the reddish tint - his hair is brown.
The photo where I "meet my Dean" - I'll never forget waiting almost 2 hours to really get to hold him. I only got a minute after he was born so he could go have his lungs checked out in the NICU. His head felt so warm and cuddly and brought me such peace to finally have him in my arms. Thinking about our first moments together, having him in my arms with his head tucked under my chin, brings emotional tears of happiness and joy.
More photos during our hospital stay:
The animals (Turner, Grace and Tiger - no trips to the barn yet ;) have done great with Dean. Grace is pretty laid back about everything but she likes to perk her ears and follow us wherever we go with Dean. Turner (pictured below with his tennis ball) is very tuned into what is going on and keeps an eye on Dean at all times - giving him very gentle sniffs. He cuddled with Dean and I yesterday during a feeding. I'll get pictures.
